3 Of The Most Dangerous Motorcycle Accidents

Posted By Law Office of James M. Stanley || 23-Feb-2016

Motorcycle riders enjoy incomparable freedom on the open road, but they are also more vulnerable than those driving cars or trucks. As a result, the injuries suffered in motorcycle accidents are typically severe or even fatal. In this blog, our Forth Worth motorcycle accident attorneys take a look at three of the most common and most dangerous types of accidents that occur on Texas roads.

We have represented injured motorcycle riders and their families since 1976.

Car Makes a Left Turn In Front of You

This is one of the most common types of motorcycle accidents, and is also one of the most lethal. These accidents, which typically occur at intersections, happen when a driver attempts to make a left hand turn in front of an oncoming motorcyclist. The ensuing “T-bone” collision can leave the rider seriously injured or killed, and are usually the result of a driver either not seeing the rider, or misjudging their speed.

Driver Changes Lanes Without Looking

Motorcycles are relatively small vehicles, and drivers often fail to notice them when merging into another lane. While the relative speed of these collisions is typically low, such an impact can knock a motorcycle over and seriously injure its rider. These accidents also often happen very unexpectedly, giving the rider little time to react.

The Car Rear-Ends You

When one car rear ends another, the damage is usually relatively minor. When a car rear-ends a motorcycle, however, the results can be fatal. When riders are stopped at intersections, drivers may not stop in time; even a relatively low-speed impact can have devastating consequences. These accidents can also happen when a motorcyclist stops or slows unexpectedly in reaction to danger ahead, but the driver following them fails to take the same caution.

The accidents listed above are all typically caused by the negligence of a driver. If you or a loved one have been hurt in a Forth Worth motorcycle accident, call our firm today to pursue financial compensation.
