Recalls' Recap: December

Every month, products are recalled for consumer dangers big and small. December is an especially crucial month to stay up to date with these recalls due to the popularity of holiday shopping.

If you purchased any of the items below, contact the manufacturer and/or distributor to receive a refund or replacement. If one of these products has harmed you in any way, get in touch with the Law Office of James M. Stanley as soon as possible.

DaVinci Bassinets – Recalled Dec. 5

The legs that hold up this bassinet can break, posing a fall hazard to babies. If you are using this product, you should take it off the “support legs” immediately and request a free repair kit from DaVinci at (833) 932-0208 or online. You may also want to consider an alternate sleeping environment for your child, such as a crib that meets current safety standards.

Please be aware that the defective bassinet was sold online at Amazon.com, Target.com, and other online retailers from August 2018 through September 2019.

Trek Super Commuter+ Electronic Bicycles – Recalled Dec. 6

A manufacturing defect has caused the front fender of this bicycle to fall into its front wheel without warning, posing a fall hazard to the rider. One fractured vertebrae has already been reported.

Owners of this bicycle should discontinue use immediately and take it to a Trek retailer for free inspection and repair. The bicycles were sold at independent retailers nationwide and online at www.trekbbikes.com from June 2017 through June 2019. Trek can be reached at (800) 373-4594.

Surly Bikes Bicycle Racks – Recalled Dec. 6

Surly 8-Pack Racks and Surly 24-Pack front bicycle racks have been recalled due to reports of failure. The racks can loosen and contact the front wheel, posing crash and injury hazards to the rider. At least 10 consumers have already been injured by this product with ailments including sprains, lacerations, and fractured vertebrae. If you own this bicycle rack, stop using it immediately and contact your retailer to arrange for a free repair.

The bicycles were sold from December 2015 through September 2019 at bike stores nationwide or online. For more information, contact Surly bikes at (877) 773-3191 or online.

WilliamsRDM Cooktop Fire Suppressors – Recalled Dec. 6

Any StoveTop FireStop Rangehood and Microhood Automatic Cooktop Fire Suppressors manufactured in November 2016 may fail to activate and suppress fires. Consumers should not use these devices and may contact WilliamsRMD at (888) 616-7976 or online to receive a free replacement.

Bass Pro MR. STEAK™ Gas Grills – Recalled Dec. 10

The gas regulator hose on these grills can melt if it comes into contact with the bottom of the grill’s firebox and pose a fire hazard. Owners of the recalled devices can contact Mr. Steak for a free repair kit but should stop using the recalled device in the meantime.

Profile Design Bicycle Carbon Aerobars – Recalled Dec. 11

Installed on some Diamond Brand Bikes and Quintana Roo model bicycles, these aerobars can crack and break, leading the rider to lose control and crash. The products were sold at independent bicycle stores nationwide from May 2017 through October 2018 and can arrange for a free replacement by contacting Profile Design at (888) 800-5999 or online.

J. Crew Boys’ Denim Pants – Recalled Dec. 17

As a result of their stone-washing manufacturing process, some consumers have found small stones in the pockets or waistbands of these pants. These stones present aspiration or choking hazards for young children. The pants were sold at J Crew Stores nationwide and online at jcrew.com from July 2019 through October 2019. Parents should take the recalled pants away from young children and remove any stones that may be present.
